This area has some particularly good attractions. Historic Scotland has Cardoness Castles, Cairn Holy Chambered Cairns, McLellans Castle and Dundrennan Abbey. Artists have the pleasures of the Artists Colony in Kirkcudbright, including the Hornel Museum. There are surprises in store, like the Cream o Galloway ice cream farm five minutes away, which also has an adventure park for children to explore. Children will also certainly enjoy the Wildlife Park at Kirkcudbright, where they may see and touch a wide variety of animals. There are an abundance of walks and wonderful wildlife in the area for all ages to enjoy.Sea trout fishing(and the occasional Salmon!) is available to visitors on the River Fleet. Take A75 from Dumfries (west) exit left at Sandgreen signpost (2 miles from Gatehouse of Fleet). Follow road to end. Sandgreen sits around bay at road end.
