A small, peaceful oasis of a site (former railway station) on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park: ideal if you want a walking and bird watching holiday. The National Parks Mountain Centre is well-equipped with information, leaflets and walks as well as an exhibition and a small cafe with an outside terrace from which theres a breathtaking view. If you want to shop, Brecon is a busy little market town (market on Tuesday and Friday) with a very good craft fair once a month for all kinds of Welsh crafts. Theres also a Jazz Festival in mid-August, doubtless because George Melly lives nearby!
