"Near Edinburgh and the borders"
There is something for everyone around our Lauder Club Site, from abbeys to wind farms, local mills to Scotland’s capital city. Lauder caters for all kinds of campers – even those who want to hire a lodge.

The town of Lauder is four miles away. It offers a blend of history, scenery and sightseeing. The Common Riding Festival is at the end of July. Walkers can enjoy the Southern Upland Way, passing near the Site. Thirlestane Castle, one of the seven great houses of Scotland, includes a nursery of historic toys. Archaeological excavations at the Augustinian hospital at Soutra Aisle have found traces of medicinal products from all over the world. Edinburgh is a bus ride away. Visit the castle and see the mediaeval buildings along the Royal Mile. The Tattoo and Festival both take place during August. Sunday markets are held at Kelso and Haddington. Take the bus to Jedburgh and Melrose – for the abbey. Kelso and Dryburgh also have abbeys which are worth a visit. The hotel next to the Site serves good food – breakfasts, lunches and evening meals. The village of Oxton is just over a mile from Site. The Post Office also sells milk and papers. For those who would like a change from camping, there are several selfcatering Lodges to hire at Lauder.
