"On the edge of Dartmoor"
Lydford Club Site lies on the west side of the Dartmoor National Park. The area is perfect for walkers, with 600 miles of public rights of way. The attractions of Devon are only a short trip away.

The town of Lydford has a Norman Castle. Find out how the Tinners Parliament imprisoned tin miners. Lydford Gorge is the deepest gorge in south west England, stretching a mile and a half from the Devil’s Cauldron whirlpool to the 100ft White Lady Waterfall. The Granite Way is a mostly trafficfree, 11-mile cycle and walk way from Okehampton to Lydford – part of the National Cycle Network. Dartmoor National Park has a beautiful moorland landscape with wooded valleys and wind-swept Tors. Families can try “letterboxing” – a form of orienteering. Details are available direct from the Site Tavistock is to the south. It hosts a pannier market from Tuesday through to Saturday. The Finch Foundry Museum shows how trades developed to support local industry. It is home to the mill leat and launder. Dartmoor Railway runs trains through the beautiful countryside of Devon and Dartmoor. It has a visitor centre at Meldon Viaduct. Sir Francis Drake’s home of Buckland Abbey is one of several National Trust properties in the area. The towns and cities of Plymouth, Barnstaple and Exeter are accessible by car or bus.
