Handily placed within a couple of miles of the M20 en route to or from the ferries and Channel Tunnel, and with easy rail access to London. Situated on the outskirts of Hythe, one of the historic Cinque Ports linked together by their undertaking to provide men and ships for the Kings service and to protect the south-east from invasion. The town tumbles down the hillside with narrow twisting streets to the old High Street. The wide prom backs a broad beach, with safe bathing and windsurfing. Theres pleasant walking along the Royal Military Canal built when Napoleon threatened invasion, and a unique experience to be had on the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, one-third size and running across Romney Marsh, once the haunt of smugglers. Dont forget your passport - a day in France is easy by Hoverspeed Seacat Catamaran (limited capacity) from Folkestone or by ferry or hovercraft from Dover. From S on A259 - in Hythe turn onto A261; at X-rds abt 1m past B2067 junc turn R onto A20; in 100yds turn L (sp Racecourse, Westenhanger Stn); site ent on L in ½m.
Note: Free racing but you are strongly advised not to arrive at the site between 12.00-18.30 hrs on race days as caravan access is restricted. Entry to site difficult after 16.00hrs on days of eve race meetings. Site not closed but access can be difficult. Some noise can be expected from nearby M20 traffic & railway line.
