Our Club Site at Ravenglass was once part of the Muncaster Estate. Set in five acres of mature woodland, it lies on the outskirts of the pretty fishing village which shares its name, in the Lake District National Park.
The area is a walker’s paradise on Cumbria’s western coast. The fishing village of Ravenglass has a Post Office, craft shop, pubs and a natural harbour. The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway – La’al Ratty – is a narrow gauge railway running up to 16 trains a day. Muncaster Castle is a great family day out. It has an Owl Conservation Centre, many works of art and antiques and is home to the Pennington family. A Roman bathhouse is 500m from the Site entrance. Wastwater, the deepest lake in the Lake District, is particularly peaceful. It can only be reached from the west. Sellafield Visitor Centre tells the story of the power station and includes science workshops and many hands-on exhibits. The village of St Bees – Cumbria’s most westerly point – has a beautiful sandy beach. Whitehaven is an attractive town with a working fishing harbour. Maryport Aquarium also has radio-controlled boats and mini-golf. The mainline railway travels along the coast, reaching Sellafield, St Bees, Whitehaven and Maryport.
Tent bookings must be made directly with the Site. Well stocked, licensed shop on site. Most pitches are hardstanding . TV reception hook-up £1 per night available at reception. Play area and ball game field opposite site entrance.
Excellent base for steam railway, Muncastor Castle and Western Lakes.
Leave A595 at Ravenglass turning, turn left at 30mph sign into private road. Entrance 25 metres on left.
